GIRL POWER PREVAILS!

Desheng Darling played in her first real T-Ball game on Saturday.
My words can’t do justice to their performance. The pictures don’t even tell the whole story, but maybe they will give you a clue to how the game went.

The girls were so funny! Our first baseman made a special effort to stand back away from the base and directed the opposing runner to the base. DD even cheered for the opposing team when they scored a run. Now that’s being a good sport, isn’t it?

DD has convinced her coach that she must have a line drawn in the sand to stand on. So, each time before she bats, he escorts her to the plate and carefully draws a line just for her. He’s really nice and she’s really spoiled! Here’s a picture of Desheng Darling “singing” as she waits to run to 3rd base. DD spent a lot of time drawing circles in the sand...Leaning on the coach and being "redirected." At one time, I counted 5 of our girls playing in the sand while the other team was batting!

I guess all that singing, drawing, cheering and dirt-work paid off.
Girl Power tied their first game and won their second.

GO GIRL POWER!

SEEING SPOTS!

Just thought I would post pictures of the other cute outfit we bought at the chocolate sale.
The pants are supposed to be capri length. I’m not sure what happened to Doodlebug’s. Her waistband must be somewhere below her hips. LOL

THIS GIRL KNOWS WHAT SHE LIKES!

Just before Easter we stopped by JC Penney’s to take advantage of their “chocolate” sale. After all, anything that mentions chocolate has got to be good! (When you enter the store you pick up a small chocolate bar. The percentage you save on your purchase is written on the back of the wrapper.) On a previous visit to JC Penney’s DB found this dress.
She absolutely LOVED it and didn’t want to leave the store without it. I didn’t like it well enough to pay the price, so I made DB put it back on the rack. Well, when we returned for the “chocolate” sale, the dress was still there. DB immediately got it and refused to let go. Hey, at 60% off, what mother could refuse?
Here she is posing in it at Ms. Billie’s when Santa Sandra gave her an Easter basket. Yes, Santa Sandra came through AGAIN!
DB had to have the dress on her pillow while she napped. She even got up in the middle of the night and got the dress. The girl knows what she likes!

She also wanted to wear it to run errands with Daddy Darling. Here she is getting him “ready to go.”

First, the hair. (That was fast…)

Then, the lips...

Next, a little eye make-up...

And lastly, a pedicure.

It’s a good thing the dress didn’t come in Daddy Darling’s size. I’m sure she would have wanted him to wear it too. LOL

Easter at Nanny's

This year we were able to go to Nanny’s for Easter. We had a great time. Nanny provided “SEVERAL” plastic eggs filled with chocolate to go along with the traditional ones. Aunt Sherry gave the girls adorable personalized shirts and bunny socks, while Uncle Al made sure they had plenty of pink M&M’s, a chocolate Easter bunny and lots of fun.

Of course Baby Logan provided us all with beautiful smiles and plenty of entertainment.

This was DB’s first opportunity to color eggs and participate in an Easter egg hunt.

Once she figured out how to “play the game,” she had a blast! Desheng Darling, the pro, was really sweet to help DB and gave her several of her own eggs.

Thank you, Nanny, for making Easter so special for our girls.

Hopping Down the Bunny Trail!

Our play group (and PawPaw) met at the mall this morning for a quick picture with Peter Cottontail.
Desheng Darling couldn’t wait to sit in his lap, but Doodlebug totally rejected the poor rabbit.
“Once again” the group picture is not quite complete. Oh well, maybe Santa will feel better now knowing that he’s not the only one DB isn’t crazy about.

But this is a cute shot…Who needs a rabbit anyway????

Hippity…Hoppity…Easter’s on it’s way!

Overall Cuties

Just wanted to post these overall pictures for Aunt Sherry. She is so talented! Unfortunately, she lives too far away from us to actually get to see the girls wear her creations. When Doodlebug saw these ELMO overalls, she fell in love with them. She was thrilled to wear them! It’s hard to believe that DD has already outgrown them, but you can tell that she is almost too big for her M&M ones too. I’m planning to just move the ruffle down a little so that she can wear them a little longer. I’m sure DB will be happy to get them too!
The girls received a lot of attention as we ran our errands today. It took twice as long as usual...(That's hard to imagine.)

Monday Modeling!

Today was our regular play group day, but Snowbunny and SpicyGirl were both sick, so we didn’t get to see them. Instead, we went to a local “dollar store” trying to find some cheap flip-flops to decorate for summertime wear. We didn’t find what we were looking for, but how many times do you go shopping and find NOTHING? If you’re like me, that doesn’t happen very often. I can always find something I “need.”
Today, I found two swimsuits for Desheng Darling and Doodlebug. I know it just snowed last week, but it won’t be long before our girls are swimming. And besides…they were “on sale.”

Doodlebug decided to wear her Barney overalls shopping today. They were actually made by Aunt Sherry for DD, but once again the hand-me-downs were a hit!

(Desheng Darling in the same Barney overalls at 2yrs. old)

Doodlebug enjoyed posing for me and singing the “I Love You” song. Doodlebug, unlike DD, loves trying on new clothes. She really didn’t mind posing for me and I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots.

Fun While It Lasted

(View from our back door)
Right smack dab in the middle of our “spring-like” weather, we were blessed with SNOW! After listening to the weather forecast, we went to bed thinking that we were going to miss out on the snow, but sometime in the early morning it actually happened. It was beautiful. The girls couldn’t wait to get out in it, but they soon learned that it was COLD…imagine that. DD only lasted about 20 minutes. Since this was Doodlebug’s first experience with snow, she was busy trying to figure it all out!The sun was really melting the snow fast and Daddy D had to get to work, so we only played for a short time...but it was fun while it lasted!
Ok, I've had enough winter...now let's get back to spring!

T-Ball Twosome

Yesterday, we made a special trip to a sporting goods store about 35 miles away to buy DD a glove and a practice T-ball stand. Of course, DB had to have one, too. After checking with 4 stores, we finally found a (pink, blue & purple) glove for a “little lefty.” She was excited, but not nearly as excited as Doodlebug! Oh my! She obviously saw more than I thought at DD’s practice. As soon as we got the stand set up, DB picked up the bat, hit the ball, and took off running! It was so funny. She seemed to know exactly what to do.
Of course we do have a few concerns. Notice where DD’s bat is headed…so glad it’s plastic. LOL Otherwise, we might have a few bruises, black-eyes and missing teeth to contend with.
Well, I guess there were a few things that Doodlebug obviously missed at practice like…
which end of the glove to use. LOL I guess she’ll just have to watch more closely next week.

Everything's Relative

I took this first picture of Desheng Darling a few days ago; the second one, a year ago. I just can’t believe how fast she is growing up! I guess everything’s relative though, because when we went to our first t-ball practice today, I noticed that DD is still pretty small compared to the other girls on her team. None of these girls is older than 5 years old.

Her first practice was quite entertaining! By the time we walked from the car to the field, DD had already introduced herself (and DB) to another little girl. She also promptly introduced herself to the coach. I don’t think he will have any trouble remembering her. It was obvious that she had never played t-ball. The coach let her bat first. She hit the ball and made it to 1st base “still carrying the bat!” She was so excited when she got to first base, she just squealed. I think she must have thought that she had won the game! She had a blast!
I think she's going to have to learn that she's not the coach’s private assistant. She wanted to help do everything! It didn’t seem to matter what the rest of the team was doing…she was in her own little world.Tomorrow we are going to buy a practice t-ball stand and set out on our conquest to locate a very small t-ball glove for a lefty! She should be a pro by next week!
