DD Scores Some Points

Desheng Darling scored quite a few points last night…with the Umpire at least! The game was about to start and Daddy D and I were trying to find DD in the outfield. Since the coach changes their positions each time, we never know where she is going to be. I finally spotted her playing hind catcher! She probably volunteered so that she could wear the cool mask and pads. If you look closely at the picture, you can see the circle that the umpire drew for her to stand in. She kept trying to get him to stand in it with her. She kept quite a conversation going with the umpire throughout the whole inning. She even took his broom from him to sweep the plate, and he had a hard time convincing her to give it back. (Oh my!) I’m surprised that he was able to monitor the game at all! On one occasion, he bent over to help the batter and Desheng Darling swatted him right across his bottom!!! What was she thinking???? It was so funny!! When it was her time to bat, she got in position, raised her bat and loudly said to the coach and umpire, “Stand back!” (Like she was going to hit the ball REALLY hard. Too funny.) It’s not a game that the umpire will soon forget. He even made a special effort to find her at the end of the game to tell her “good-bye.”

Oh my goodness! I am cracking up!! The fact that she swatted his bottom is hilarious!! I'm glad S.G. is not the only bottom swatter. She did it to her teacher the other day. Ugh!!

Hurry up, DD!!! Hurry up and come to Tucson --- I have a double header on Saturday and I need you to come to my game! I sure wish you could come. I think I am playing short stop and maybe second base. It looks like you are having fun and learning a lot about the game and EVEN MORE. I love you so much.
Love, Ethan.
P.S. The girls say HI and said xoxox to you and asked you to hug and kiss DB and Brother Darling for them!

Your posts about DD's softball games are the funniest! I have laughed and laughed, thinking of her. I'm afraid that Song and Anna's games aren't quite as entertaining, although watching Vera and Emma in the Angel League can be pretty fun. Your girls are sooooo adorable. jill
