Doodlebug's First Gig

OK, maybe we’re taking this “Concert Thing” too far. LOL I couldn’t resist taking these pictures yesterday. Doodlebug and Desheng Darling were having a great time! They were SO LOUD. And since DB so graciously shared her cold with me, my voice is “gone.” I could barely whisper yesterday. Trust me, it’s difficult to calm them down when they can’t hear you. It’s difficult to calm them down ANYWAY!!!! Lol

It just goes to prove that you don’t have to be able to speak English fluently to sing today’s music. DB’s English vocabulary is very limited, but she is pronouncing more words everyday. Last week she actually learned to say “I love you.” Personally, I don’t care if she learns to say anything else.

SHARING EVERYTHING!

It’s been a long week around here for Doodlebug. She began to get sick with a nasty cold Tuesday night and continued to worsen throughout the Thanksgiving holidays.

We had a great visit with our families for Thanksgiving, but we unfortunately left the grandparents/ aunts & uncles/ cousins with bad colds as a reminder of our visit. Sorry…

Can you guess what we did after a great meal at Aunt Muh’s? The sweatshirts tell it all...
Die-hard Cowboy fans!!!!! Can’t wait until this Thursday night!!!

By Monday, DB was feeling a little better, but we still didn’t feel like playing with our play group friends. What you can’t see in these wonderful photos is that Desheng Darling is just beginning to show symptoms of this nasty cold. Sisters share everything, you know. It may be another long week, but this time for DD.

But the show must go on! DB and DD performed a percussion concert for us last night. Desheng Darling set it all up. She actually played a drum and tambourine with drumsticks, while Doodlebug sat on her potty chair playing on the top of her plastic castle with plastic spoons!..All of this while sitting on top of the trampoline. Quite amazing.

Just a snapshot of Doodlebug today…Yep! I think she’s feeling better.

Magical Moments

Desheng Darling and Doodlebug had a royally good time at Cheerleader’s Princess Birthday Party yesterday. The girls all looked precious.!! It’s amazing how well they pull off this “PRINCESS IMAGE” thing. LOL It couldn’t be because they are all treated like little princesses at home. No, surely not…well maybe...
For the BEST pictures… go to the http://www.hunanspice.blogspot.com. She took some wonderful pictures. I’d like to blame my camera for my bad shots, but unfortunately most of the problems are from operator-errors.
What would a royal party be without a little dance? The heels don’t seem to bother SpicyGirl and DD.

The girls also enjoyed playing in make-up. Doodlebug is getting some important tips from Prince Charming (Runningback.) He will probably die when he sees this, but he was soooooo much help with Doodlebug. They formed a special bond the first time they met. (I promise I won’t use this against you when you’re 16, Runningback.)

Take a look at this cake! Can you imagine? Oh, how I would love to be this talented!
Team Mom and Cheerleader light the candles as DD stands in awe.
As a fairytale ending, each of the girls received a special hand-painted teacup designed by Cheerleader's grandmother. They are beautiful! Now we know where Team Mom gets her talent. Cheerleader’s other grandmother provided additional toys for party favors! Wow! This was really a magical party for our girls. It’s the closest they’ve been to the Magic Kingdom in quite awhile. Thanks for inviting us to your party, Cheerleader. Happy Birthday!

NATIONAL ADOPTION DAY!

November 17, 2007

We are so thankful to be able to celebrate this day! Who could have ever imagined it?? We thought our family was complete with our two wonderful bio children, but God had other plans. Our lives have changed tremendously since adding these two little girls to our family. We’re broke, tired and overwhelmed! LOL I am amazed that God has blessed us in this way, and I will be eternally thankful to Him for trusting us with the lives of DD and DB. Of course the truth of the matter is that we are trusting Him for guidance and direction in raising them.
You might think that we would celebrate this day by eating at a nice Chinese food restaurant, but oh no, not this time. The girls both love Mexican food, so we took this opportunity to expand their multicultural awareness and enjoyed a great meal at a local Mexican food place. Love that Salsa and Queso!!! We’ll use any excuse for good Mexican food. LOL

From Piggy Tails to Fairy Tales!

I took this picture before leaving to meet our playgroup at the park on Monday. The sun was so bright! It's hard to believe it's actually November!
The girls really had a good time at the park. Honestly. Don’t they look happy??? Just goes to show that pictures can sometimes be deceiving. Lol

On Wednesday, Doodlebug had to go to the doctor for more shots. We decided to redo her vaccinations because her doctor had some questions about the effectiveness of the ones she received in China. She began to cry as soon as we entered the doctor’s office. It was pretty traumatic for her…poor thing.
After her shots we went shopping for princesses dresses. Isn’t that what all women do to cheer them up? Go shopping???? Actually, Cheerleader is having a princess b-day party next week and the girls didn’t really have any “princess” dresses that fit. So we bought these two:
I just hope they hold up until Cheerleader's party next Monday.

Doodlebug had a pretty rough afternoon and night. She could hardly walk and she cried a lot. She’s even crying this morning as she tries to walk from one room to the next. . I don’t recall any of our other children experiencing this much pain from their shots.
Earlier this morning Doodlebug came hobbling into our bedroom on one of her many visits during the night. This is the view I had. I’m not sure if the pain was due to the shots or those high heels she was sporting! Lol But a princess has to have her heels no matter how much pain she is in. Right?

Precious Piggytails on Old McDonald's Farm

Old McDonald couldn’t have possibly been this cute! Today I was able to get DB’s hair into piggytails. She loved them. I was told by a couple living in China that the nannies shave the children’s hair every 100 days. So we’re working with a few months growth here. It was quite an accomplishment. LOL

She is wearing another pair of hand-me down overalls from DD. These were made by Aunt Sherry. I was able to find a few shots of Desheng Darling in them taken in 2005. The pictures of DD were not made with a digital camera, so they are not quite as clear. Check out the last two pictures. What is it about these overalls that made both of them do this silly pose without any prompting? Just goofy, I guess!!!

SUCH SWEET SISTERS!

Some of these pictures were taken before church yesterday. They look so sweet and innocent.
I think Desheng Darling has decided to keep Doodlebug. Each day I am seeing a stronger bond developing between the two of them. They are “pretending” together,

giggling together, playing together and of course...
GETTING IN TROUBLE TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!

GOTTA LOVE 'EM

Hand-Me-Downs!

Aren’t Hand-Me-Downs wonderful? One of my best childhood memories is my “favorite cousin” periodically giving me a big sack of hand-me-downs. I loved them! Of course, if this particular cousin had worn socks on her head…I would’ve too. LOL I’m not sure if Doodlebug will feel the same way about DD’s hand-me-downs, but I am really glad that I saved some of her clothes. At least I can get by with it while they are young.
This is a pair of “Fall” overalls that I made DD when she was about 2.5 yrs.old. They really don’t compare to the ones that Aunt Sherry has made for DD, but I think they’re cute. Aunt Sherry is busily working on Christmas overalls for both girls. I can’t wait to see them.
Unfortunately, Doodlebug didn’t feel well today when I made these pictures…So…

No smiles for her… just a sore throat and stuffy nose . Maybe a hug from her big sister will make her feel better. LOL

(BTW, I’d still be thrilled to get hand-me-downs from you,Vic.)

Fall Festival 2007

In lieu of Halloween activities, we usually let the girls attend our Fall Festival at church. But since our church is very involved in a building/ moving project, it had a drive-by candy pick up (which was pretty cool) instead of a festival. So, the girls went to the festival at city hall. DD went as a butterfly and DB as a ladybug.
After last night’s activities, Doodlebug is CONVINCED that she came to the right home. I don’t think she had ever seen so much candy at one time! And to think that people actually just put it in your pumpkin whether you toss the rings correctly or not…unbelievable! Just pick up a duck and .....get candy! Wow!
Doodlebug’s fun started before we even got to city hall. After getting them both dressed, and securely strapped in their car seats (no small feat), we headed to city hall. We were less than a mile down the road when I realized that DB was already eating the chocolate candy that Daddy Darling brought home from work. Thank goodness for Wet Ones! Here are a few pictures of the girls having fun…

Doodlebug was not ready for the fun to end. After brushing their teeth for what seems like an eternity (Dr. Shelly would be proud.), we put the girls to bed. About 30 minutes later, Doodlebug came walking into the office carrying her pumpkin. Her teeth were no longer white, but blue. It was obvious that she had been enjoying a blue Dum Dum sucker in her bed. How she got up and got her pumpkin without us hearing her, I don’t know. When I took her back to bed, I found that she had been enjoying more than just a Dum Dum sucker. She had both costumes and several pieces of candy in the bed. Even more evidence was found around 3:00 a.m. when I got up to check on the girls. Desheng Darling sleepily handed me an unwrapped red sucker that she had been laying on for some time. LOL Too Funny!
