FINALLY! SHE’S IN OUR ARMS!

I hope this post works! Our internet access is quite limited and so many things are blocked. We arrived in Hefei, yesterday. It was a two hour flight…seemed like a blink of the eye compared to the trip over here! LOL We went to the Civil Affairs office where the babies were presented to our group. We have a small group this time with only 5 families. The babies range from 17 months to almost 3 yrs. old.

All of the babies cried when they were taken from their caretakers, but I think Doodlebug won the prize. Every time I reached out to her, she cried. When she cried the caretaker pulled her back. I didn’t think they were ever going to hand her over to me. Once the caretaker left the room, she got better, but it took a while.

I guess you can tell how DD feels about it all!

Finally!

We spent the rest of the evening in the hotel room just getting to our new little one. We tried a lot of different things, but still no smile. ..and yes, this is the same dress!

Maybe “cheese” isn’t pronounced the same way in China.

Still no smile, but at least we were able to wash her up and dress her in a different outfit.

Desheng Darling is just thrilled to have a little sister!

Today was our day to complete the Chinese portion of our adoption. We went back to the Civil Affairs office, had our pictures made, answered a few questions, signed our names a few more times, and left with our little Doodlebug. She’s all ours “according to the Chinese govt.” We still have to complete the American side of things, but we won’t be able to do that until next week.

Here they are in the matching dresses I made for them. Too cute!! Doodlebug thinks Daddy Darling is interesting, but she still won’t let him pick her up. She didn’t know that he was behind her in this picture. She let him take her for a stroll without me this afternoon, but he still hasn’t won her heart yet. I’m sure it won’t be long, though.
At the Civil Affairs office

Well, at least Daddy D and I are smiling. This is the photo taken at the Civil Affairs office for our official adoption document.

Hope you enjoy the photos because we are really enjoying “the real thing.” Can’t wait to come home!

Reminds me of my Sophia. It wasn't until day 2 or 3 we got a smile. You must know that this reaction is good, she's grieving. Better than a baby that comes giggling and happy, who thinks of you as just another playmate. Congrats!!!

Poor girl, still in that same dress!! She is still as cute as when we saw her about a week and 1/2 ago. Where the other children in your group from Tongling? We all need to keep in touch so our Tongling bugs can try and stay friends. Are you going to visit the orphanage? I can't wait to see a smile on that little girls face. CONGRATS!!!!

Chelsie and Max, who was in your shoes only two weeks ago!!!

I tell you, I have been checking a lot and we are so excited to see DB! We are so happy for you! She is beautiful. DD looks so precious in her cute outfits [you are such a wiz with the sewing machine.] I can't wait to see DB in hers. She will be smiling soon, how can she not with her jie jie there? What a beautiful family.

Praying for her to settle in quickly, for the Darlings in China and for the Darlings back home who are holding down the fort.
