Does This Add Up?

Just found this interesting….A few days ago, DD came up to me and said, “If I have two and get two more, I will have four.” I thought this was pretty good considering that she turned 4 less than a month ago and we haven’t worked on adding at all. I began to ask her a few questions like, “If you had 3 and I gave you 1 more, how many would you have?” She answered correctly, so I made the problems a little harder like 3+2, 5+3, and 6+4. Amazingly (to me), she answered them correctly. Of course, I kept most of the addends and sums under 10, but she got the answers right at least 80% of the time and she was working these in her head, so I know she understands the concept. This may be totally average or she could've been just having a good day, but I thought it was pretty impressive! (Of course, I realize that I'm just a little prejudiced.)
(This was DD's idea for a pose.)

That's awesome! I bought the Leapfrog Math Circus video at Target yesterday. It's supposed to introduce little ones to early math concepts. We haven't watched it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. S.G. loved the letters one. I'll let you know if it's good.

D.D. just has a boatload of personality!!

Ummm...yeah...I think that's pretty awesome, too! Maybe when you teach me to make the outfit, DD can have a little Math lesson with PG! ; )

Very impressive, although WE are NOT prejudiced (at all) about her abilities and KNOW how smart she is, so how about bringing that cutie girl here so she can balance her auntie's checkbook or at least do her all her cousins Math homework -- don't you know they would like that!!! Hope you are having a good weekend. Did you have white donuts and choc. milk this morning???

Why were you surprised? We all know that she is the smartest thing around! No, we are not prejudiced! Love the pose. Aunt Muh
